- To deepen my understanding of my local area and acquire the skills to work to improve it in the future. (2nd year student, Department of Marine Policy and Culture)
2. Please tell us why you chose the faculty and department you are currently enrolled in.
?It was a department that specialized in dealing with living organisms. I was introduced to it by a senior in the Food Production Science Department when I was in high school. (1st year, Department of Marine Bioresources)
?I liked physics in high school, so I struggled with the choice of going on to the physics department of the Faculty of Science or the Faculty of Engineering. I chose the Faculty of Engineering because I thought it would be good for my future, and also because I thought it seemed to have a strong focus on the field I wanted to study, I chose this department of the Faculty of Engineering. (Department of Marine Electronic and Mechanical Engineering/4th year)
?I was in science classes in high school, but I wasn't a typical science student because I wasn't good at math or physics, so I chose a policy that combined the humanities and sciences. (2nd year student, Department of Marine Policy and Culture)
I wanted to learn about the ocean comprehensively, including the marine ecosystem, and I thought the Department of Marine Environmental Science would allow me to do that. I love large whales, so I wanted to join a cetology lab. (1st year, Department of Marine Environmental Science)
3. What is the best thing about attending Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology?
?The practical training and experiment classes were substantial, allowing me to have experiences that I would not have been able to have at other universities. (3rd year, Department of Marine Electronic and Mechanical Engineering)
?I made friends with whom I can talk about nerdy sea creatures. (1st year, Department of Marine Life Resources)
?The close relationships with teachers and fellow students in the same department. When I tell my friends at other universities that our department rents out the cafeteria for parties after school, they are very surprised. (2nd year, Department of Marine Policy and Culture)
?All the students are serious and calm, so it's easy to build relationships with them. (1st year, Department of Marine Resources and Energy)
4-1. Has your impression of Maritime University changed before and after enrolling?
Changed (blue): 67% No change (red): 33%
4-2. If you answered "changed," please tell us how your impression has changed.
?I thought everyone would love ships, but that wasn't the case. (1st year, Department of Marine Electronics and Mechanical Engineering)
?I thought it was only about the ocean, but that's not the case for everyone. (Food Production Science Department/1st year)
?Because this is a university where you can specialize in a specialized field like the ocean, I thought the students would have a slightly gloomy atmosphere, but they were all proactive and cheerful. (1st year, Department of Marine Environmental Science)
?There are surprisingly many active clubs and extracurricular activities, and there are plenty of things to enjoy outside of studying and marine-related clubs. (1st year, Department of Marine Life Resources)
5. What is the atmosphere like among the professors and students at the University of Marine Science and Technology?
Everyone here is kind, calm, and friendly, making it a very comfortable place to be. (1st year, Department of Marine Resources and Energy)
?Seniors in clubs and teachers are easy to talk to and I can hear a lot of stories. I often see them chatting at the co-op or library, and they seem to get along well. (1st year, Department of Marine Biological Resources)
?For better or worse, it is an engineering school, and has a unique atmosphere that is typical of a training institution for marine engineers. (3rd year, Department of Marine Electronic and Mechanical Engineering)
?The teachers are kind and provide thorough instruction, and the students are calm and serious. (Graduate School, Maritime Logistics Major/2nd year)
6. What is your recommended method of studying for exams?
①Common Test/General Selection
?I read aloud for 30 minutes every day in 黄金棋牌游戏_黄金城棋牌下载_中国竟彩网官方推荐 and my reading score on the common test improved. (1st year, Department of Marine Electronic and Mechanical Engineering)
?If you choose a higher-level university as your backup, you will be able to apply to the university with more ability than your first choice, which will also help you save money after enrolling. (4th year, Department of Marine Electronic and Mechanical Engineering)
?To prepare for the essay section, I used study guides for natural sciences and humanities, and practiced writing about 800 words of my own opinion on the topic. Policy professors tend to listen to students' opinions and thoughts in their regular lectures. Therefore, it's a good idea to stock up on knowledge and patterns for constructing arguments so that you can clearly express your opinions when preparing for the essay section! (2nd year student, Department of Marine Policy and Culture)
- Repeated practice using the red book and problem sets. In particular, the second exam for the Faculty of Marine Engineering has a unique 黄金棋牌游戏_黄金城棋牌下载_中国竟彩网官方推荐 question format, so I think it's a good idea to thoroughly prepare. (3rd year, Department of Marine Electronic and Mechanical Engineering)
?Study 黄金棋牌游戏_黄金城棋牌下载_中国竟彩网官方推荐 carefully. It is especially important to master the grammar necessary for reading long passages and practice extracting answers quickly. In mathematics, rather than difficult applied questions, it is more effective for the second exam to master questions that are more advanced from the basics. In biology, just like mathematics, it is good to memorize vocabulary that appears in illustrated books. (2st year, Department of Marine Environmental Science)
② Comprehensive Selection
?Move from general to comprehensive studies, from science to humanities. Focus on modern Japanese literature so that you can switch to it if something happens. (2nd year student, Department of Maritime Policy and Culture)
?Since it was a comprehensive exam, I practiced writing essays. I also went to the university library and got several years' worth of past exam questions, which I solved over and over again. (1st year, Department of Marine Life and Resources)
③ Other
?Studying with friends. I recommend this because it helps to boost each other's motivation and take care of your mental health. (1st year, Department of Marine Resources and Energy)
?It's important to repeatedly solve past exam questions and not leave any parts you don't understand unsolved. (Graduate School, Maritime Logistics major/2nd year) *Two students in the same major and year gave similar answers.
7. If you belong to a club, please tell us which club you belong to.
